WHAT IN THE WORLD IS OPTIMISM?
I am not a pessimist, but an optimist. In the truest sense of the word optimism, in order to make sense and bring hope, we must be realistic; otherwise, it is nothing more than wishful thinking, science fiction, or a way to make it through the day. So in order for my optimism to be valid, on what would I base my optimism?
God’s Word – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105).
God’s promises – … by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust ( 2 Peter 1:4).
God’s faithfulness – He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him (Psalm 91:15).
God’s people – Individuals who look deep inside themselves in search of the truth and who listen to the still, small, quiet voice called conscience. Who then take those truths and apply them to their hearts, then teach them to their children and share them with their neighbors.
They strengthen themselves with principles that benefit themselves, their families, and their communities. But most importantly to those who put their trust, not in those who would bury you with your last breath, but to the One who will resurrect you by your last breath.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, that I might just believe by faith to trust in You. I know that it is through trusting and relying on You that I will be able to get through the shipwrecks and storms of life.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
How can we possibly distrust the all-knowing One?
