Word 4 Today December 29, 2011

If you’ve truly forgiven, the next time you see the other person, you will notice a change in your attitude.  Does this mean that you have to be best friends?  Why of course not.  But by asking forgiveness, you are freeing yourself, letting go of your bitterness so God can work in your life.

This isn’t an issue that disappears overnight.  You’ll always encounter people who are going to push your buttons.  But remember what Jesus did for you.  Remember how He hung on the cross and asked God to forgive those who placed Him there (Luke 23:34).  Then Jesus said,Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”  Now that’s real forgiveness. Use Christ as your standard and watch Him work.

Dear Lord, how easy it is to forgive when I use Your standard of forgiveness.  There must be something to this forgiveness thing if, despite what You were going through, that’s what You chose to do.  Lord, no matter what, no matter whom, I choose to forgive.  In Your name, I pray.

Forgive as Christ did!
