Word 4 Today December 10, 2011

My prayer for you is that each and every desire of your heart be fulfilled, and they can be if you are obedient to the ten basic principles of life God asks us to live by.  He did not give us these principles to punish us, but in order to direct, protect, guide, and prosper us.

Over the years, there has been much discussion on whether or not we should allow prayer in school, get rid of “In God We Trust” on our currency, or be allowed to post the Ten Commandments in schools or government buildings.  If the truth were told (Commandment #9, Don’t lie), we are as guilty as the society we’re accusing of removing the fundamental principles this great nation was founded on.  How many of us actually pray for, and pray with, our children at home?  How many of us truly honor God by trusting Him with our finances?  Last but not least, how many of us even know all Ten Commandments?

The Ten Commandments

OneHave no other gods before you.

There is only one God!  (Ex. 20:3)

Two You shall createno idols.

No person or thing is more important than God!  (Ex. 20:4)

Three – Do not take God’s name in vain.

God” and “Jesus” are not names to profane!  (Ex. 20:7)

Four – Keep the Sabbath holy.

Worship, give thanks, and praise God!  (Ex. 20:8)

Five – Honor your father and mother.

Respect your parents; you are their gift!  (Ex. 20:12)

Six – Do not murder.

Stand against anything that destroys life!  (Ex. 20:13)

Seven – Do not commit adultery.

Show respect for the opposite sex!  (Ex. 20:14)

Eight – Do not steal.

Refuse to take what doesn’t belong to you!  (Ex. 20:15)

Nine – Do not give false testimony.

Refuse to lie or gossip about anyone!  (Ex. 20:16)

Ten – Do not covet.

Do not desire that which belongs to another.  (Ex. 20:17)

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”  (Deut. 7:9)

Listen, live long, and prosper!
