Word 4 Today December 6, 2011

It seems that we as human beings have a tendency to make life a little harder than it was intended to be.  We isolate ourselves for fear of rejection and suffer in private.  We keep our feelings, opinions, and pain to ourselves—why?  God forbid anyone should really get to know and not like us.  We become so secure sitting alone surrounded by creature comforts and getting involved in activities that will take our minds from anything significant, important, or substantive. We become apathetic and lethargic, unwilling to get out of our comfort zones and venture out and enjoy life.  Look the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged” (Deut. 1:21).

Dear Lord, the thought of being rejected puts fear into my heart.  Allow me to be content with who I am at this point in my life.  Give me the strength and courage I need to just be myself and not let the opinions of others hold me back from Your plan and purpose for me.

Fear not!  Fear not!  Fear not!  The Lord is my Shepherd.
