Word 4 Today December 5, 2011

Keep only cheerful friends and learn to discard those that drag you down.  Be fruitful doing things you enjoy and that make you happy.  Walk the dog, read a book, or listen to music you love.  Take up a hobby and keep learning and getting better at it; golf is a good one, and it will keep you humble.  Enjoy the simple things and laugh often, long, and loud.  Laugh a lot and hang out with friends who keep you laughing.  When tears do happen, grieve and move on.  The only person who is with us our entire life is our self.  Surround yourself with what you love—whether it’s family, pets, music, plants, or hobbies; they are all good medicine for better health.  Stay away from guilt trips, and remember we all make mistakes.  Share your love with others at every opportunity; it is the secret of success.  A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken” (Prov. 15:13).

Dear Lord, remind me the Christian life doesn’t always have to be so serious.  The truth is as Christians, we should be the happiest people in the world.  We should be full of faith, promise and hope and fully filled with the love of God.  Help me stop being so morose at times and remind me to enjoy the life you have given me today.

Much joy … much love … much life.
