Word 4 Today November 7, 2011

Our consumer culture is saturated by images that turn thoughts into words and words into emotions. Our emotions will determine our decisions and our actions, and finally lead us to our destination.  If words didn’t work, advertisers would not spend millions of dollars to make you think you need to become like everyone else in order to be content and happy.  Fool everybody, don’t be a cheap imitation.  Be genuine and honest, an original, not a copy.  Some trust in chariots, and some trust in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God” (Ps. 20:7).

Lord, I just love that verse.  The truth is we can put our faith and trust in the things of this world, or we can put them in You.  We can settle for being some cheap imitation of someone else, or be completely content to be who You created us to be.  Today may I stop listening to all the nonsense the world has to offer and start listening to You.

Some trust in chariots and horses—oh, well!
