Word 4 Today November 5, 2011

What kinds of words are framing your thinking?  Every word we speak will determine where we go, and who and what we will become.  If we can get into the habit of listening to what we say and changing the way we speak, we can totally transform our lives and alter their direction.  What we think is important because our thoughts will determine the things we talk about.  The things we talk about will affect the way we feel, and the way we feel will determine how we behave and act.  We must make a conscious effort to listen to ourselves and honestly evaluate the meaning and tone of our words.  “But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart …” (Deut. 30:14).

Dear Lord, let me never take my words for granted; there is so much power in them.  With a word, You created the universe.  With a word, you created mankind.  Your Word says death and life are in the power of the tongue; today I must choose to use that power for evil or for good.  Our words can be our best friend or our worst enemy—may I choose to use them carefully.

Words have power, so choose them carefully!
