Word 4 Today September 28, 2011

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  John 10:10

If I read the first part of this passage correctly, it is the devil’s job to make victims out of us.  He wants to steal from us, kill us, and wreck and ruin and destroy our life, that’s what he does.  It is his position to keep you living in doubt, and in fear, without hope or without purpose.

We have been given a choice.  If we choose to follow the devil, we must be prepared to give up God’s wonderful plan and purpose for our life.  Prepare to give up true joy, genuine peace and lasting happiness. Expect to be unloved and condemned, un-forgiven, and unaccepted.  Congratulations, we have made the decision to spend eternity with the one whose job it is to make you choose him rather than God.

In the second sentence is Jesus Christ.  He says He came to give us eternal life, in abundance to the full till it overflows.  He wants to bless us beyond our wildest dreams. He wants to rebuild us from the inside out and give us faith, and hope, and a sense of purpose.

Here is another choice, only this one promises a rich rewarding and abundant life, overflowing with unconditional, unfailing, and unfaltering love. We can have a heavenly Father who wants to pour out of His goodness, mercy, forgiveness and kindness.  Who desires to give us peace, and joy, and has already provided us with an eternal reward.  Congratulations, we have chosen the path leading to eternal life.

So there you have it, a choice, free will, a decision to make.  The bottom line is will you choose to follow the path to victory in Christ, or the path of death, destruction and eternal separation from God?  It’s a choice we all have to make.

Some decisions are easier to make than others!
