Word 4 Today September 1, 2011

If we think about negative things, it won’t be long before our frame of mind turns sour, pessimistic and negative.  However, if we fill our minds with positive thoughts, and with the things of God, the opposite occurs, and we begin to see the world around us as God sees it: full of wonder, optimism, hope and love.  When we begin to change our thinking, we will find our spirits being lifted, our attitude changes and we become much happier people.  As our thinking becomes healthier we will begin to develop better relationships, with others as well as with ourselves.  We will discover that our spiritual life will soar like never before and we will begin to prosper and grow in ways that we never could have imagined.  Our physical and mental health will begin to improve tremendously, and we will achieve that peace which surpasses all of our understanding.  Believe me, if we change the way we think, WE WILL CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF OUR LIVES!   The Apostle Paul knew the treasure of right thinking so he wrote in The Book of Philippians Chapter 4 verses 4-9:  Rejoice in the Lord always.  Again I will say rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men.  The Lord is at hand.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.  The things, which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

In order to help me choose correctly I put a band around my wrist and every time I chose a wrong thought I would snap it and I would immediately snap out of it” and turn a bad thought into a good thought.  After doing this awhile, I noticed my wrong thoughts were becoming less and less, and my good thoughts becoming more and more.  Give it a shot; what do you have to lose?  Nothing but bad thoughts that are intended to make your life miserable and hamper you from becoming the person God has created you to be.

What else?  Snap out of it!
