Word 4 Today August 27, 2011

Today, I’m thinking about my mom, who’s name happened to be Grace.  She was without a doubt the most humble person I have ever met.  She never cared if she was famous or recognized by the world.  She was not wealthy or proud, but to those who were close to her she was special.  To the world she was just an ordinary woman, no career, not even a high school diploma, but she had a heart for people.  I never saw her pass up an opportunity to do something for someone or just make someone smile.  She gave so much joy to us kids and her husband who seldom deserved it.  My fondest memory of her was always making the sign of the cross, every time I left the house.  God loves that kind of spirit, one that is gentle, that gives joyfully, and that loves unconditionally.  ‘Well done good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things.  I will make you ruler over many things.  Enter into the joy of your Lord.’  Matthew 25:21

Lord, humble me.  I pray that I do not seek the world’s approval but Yours.  I will seek no reward for doing right, for giving hope, and sharing joy with others.  Let me bare my burdens bravely and put a smiling face on all I do no matter what I am going through.  I want to here these words when I am finished here, “Well done.”

Ordinary people do not have to be they choose to be!
