Word 4 Today August 25, 2011

It seems the older I get, the less sensitive I have become.  I have learned not to take myself so seriously so now my feelings are less easily hurt.  It was not always that way; the slightest insult made me feel awful and I would carry it with me all day.  The smallest correction by my boss would make me feel less than.  Any off comment, joke or criticism about me would set me off and totally ruin my day.  I am sure many of you feel that way well, get over it.  We have no control over what people say, but we do have control over how we will choose to respond to it.  We must learn to take it on the chin if necessary and let nothing steal our peace.  We must learn that we are the ones who make something out of nothing by even entertaining personal slights.  If we are trying our best to be at peace with others, we will not have time to listen to negative comments from others, because we’re too busy trying to understand the pain that is in them.  He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.”  And they ridiculed Him.  Matthew 9:24

Wow!  Even Jesus was mocked and ridiculed and how did He respond?  Lord all I have to do is read the next verse and notice, He said nothing, He went in and took the girl by the hand, and the girl arose.  I pray that I never allow my feelings to get in the way of doing what God wants me to do, today.

Stick and stones may break my bones, but I’m going to do what’s right anyway!
