“You are the salt of the earth; but if salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?  It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.  You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify, our Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:13-16

As believers we were appointed by Jesus. “You are the salt of the earth,” (a preservative) and as “Salt,” we were called to behave in a distinctly different way from those who do not know God.  He also stated, “You are the light of the world,” but cautioned if we hide our light we will not have any effect in the lives of others. The statement “You are” signifies a state of already being, the reason you were created, and marching orders for the mission you have been given.

Appointed and called to behave distinctively different.  What an honor and a privilege it is to be selected to make a difference in this world. Today, make we take what God has given and use it to the best of our ability.

Salt, throw some over your shoulder for good results.  Be a blessing!
