True and genuine love is a sacrificial commitment, dedicated to the well being of another.  If I asked you why God created you, what would your answer be?  Why were you born?  You and I were created so that God could express His love to us and we could respond to others with love.  God is love and because that is His very nature, He needed an object for His love, so He created you and me.  Love starts and stops with God.  He is the Author.  He created it out of His very nature, and He desires that we share and experience this wonderful gift with mankind.  What a marvelous privilege!  We are most like God when we love.

Dear God, Your perfect love is a gift.  We can’t work for it.  When someone gives a gift and the receiver tries to repay the giver, it is no longer a gift.  We could never earn Your love because it was given to us by Your very nature.  Your love is everlasting.  “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.”  (Jer. 31:3)  We can do nothing to make God stop loving us.  What good news!  God’s love never, ever, ever fades.  “…Love one another; as I have loved you….” John 13:34

God just can’t help loving you!
