Word 4 Today July 14, 2011

Most of the letters I send are written to encourage, bless, and give you hope.  Many are based on my own personal experiences, which have blessed me for so many years.  They are in no way however, written to become a substitute for personal study, prayer, and quiet time with God.  Today there are many in ministry who enjoy tremendous success by preaching a watered down message, one that appeals to ego and allows us to find shortcuts to feeling better about ourselves.  Let me assure you, with God… there are no shortcuts.  Any changes that need to be made for a deeper, more joyful, and abundant life always require effort, perseverance, and patience. Any lessons we think we’ve learned will generally be tried by fire in the tough times to see how we hold up.  (No pain-No gain)  The Apostle Paul cautions us in 2 Timothy 4:3-4For the time is coming when (people) will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but having ears itching (for something pleasing and gratifying), they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold.  And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.  (Amplified Bible)

Lord there is a natural tendency for me to look for the easy way out, the quick answer to my problems, a shortcut to my pain.  May I realize today any pain I have right now will take time and willingness on my part in order to be healed.  Let me do what I can to remedy my problems and what I can’t do let me leave it in the hands of almighty God.

No good answers come quickly.
