Word 4 Today July 9, 2011

God does not enjoy your pain or take delight in seeing you suffer or confused.  He is a God of infinite love, gentleness, and compassion.  Nothing He does (or does not do) comes from spite.  His purpose in allowing a delay to meet your need is to strengthen your faith and reliance on Him, and quite frankly get rid of self-sufficiency.  In a very real sense your unmet need is a form of trial and temptation.  It’s a trial because it tempts us to turn away from God and meet our own needs.  So what are you to do when your prayers are delayed and the pressure to give up increases, and you feel weary of beating yourself up with false guilt?

This might sound trite and simple, but keep your eyes on the Lord and follow Him, no matter what, knowing that the testing of our faith leads to perseverance, which works to make us “perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:4).  Keep trusting God and anxiety will eventually disappear and your needs will be met.  When we take our concerns to God we can be confident that He always has our best interest at heart.  Only He has the power and the wisdom to take care of each and every one of our needs.

False guilt, is pride… you just don’t need it!
