Word 4 Today May 25, 2011

There are millions of people who sincerely but wrongfully believe they are acceptable to God based on how good they are.  They will die in ignorance, deceived by false doctrine of working to earn the Lord’s approval.  The word Grace is mentioned 179 times in 159 verses in the New Testament alone because it is so important to realize that it is only by the grace of God that we are allowed to know him intimately.  Ask yourself, do you set rules and regulations for your life, but then judge yourself harshly when you do not live up to your own expectations?  Do you feel close to the Lord when you are doing something religious, and distant when you are not?  Are you living in this manner, lacking assurance that you have pleased God?  The Bible says that you and I have been accepted by His grace, which is defined as Gods love and kindness to us without consideration of any merit on our part.  Ephesians 2:4-10

Lord, how foolish am I to think I can do anything apart from You and Your grace.  It is a liberating feeling to know I can’t, nor do I need to do anything, to merit Your favor, love, and mercy.  You do it because You want to.  You do it because You love us.  Today let me stop playing righteous, and get serious about my relationship with You.  It is by Your grace only that we have any hope.

Take a deep breath… God has your back!
