Word 4 Today April 17, 2011

We all like presents don’t we?   Isn’t it nice when someone just does something for you, or gives you a gift you never expected?  “Oh! Is this for me?”  Praise God, because that’s what He did for us.  It seemed that when we needed it most and expected it least, God offered us a gift. He revealed Himself to us and offered to come into our lives.  For many of us it was the first time we had ever experienced a sense of real peace and genuine love.  God loves us so much and clearly demonstrated His love when He sent His Son to die on the cross to pay our sin debt in full.  On the cross He showed us His kindness despite our unworthiness, and gave His love freely without any consideration or merit on our part.  He chose to love us unconditionally regardless of who we were and what we had done.  What did we do?  Nothing, just simply receive the gift of His only Son.  But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

Lord, I still sometimes wonder why You love me so much.  What did I do to deserve all the goodness, peace and love that You have given so freely?  Lord, I still can’t believe all of the changes you have made in my life and really can’t understand why You have given me all of these new and marvelous opportunities.  I am still astonished by all of the blessings You have given, which are far too many for me to count.  I thank You today for a new life.

God has a gift with your name on it, will you accept it, or reject it?
