Word 4 Today April 12, 2011

Who in the world does not like kindness?  Remember VHS tapes from the video store that said, “Be kind rewind?”  How hard was that to do, and yet how many times did you get a tape back that you had to rewind?  Kindness out of all of the spiritual gifts is the easiest to do.  It takes very little effort, it’s painless and it costs very little but the rewards are so great.  How hard is it to say please and thank you?  Does it really take a lot out of you to pick something up that someone dropped, or let someone go ahead of you at the checkout that only has one item?  How much effort does it take to wave someone through at a stop sign even if they got there a little after you?  Kindness is not hard work and it certainly is not rocket science.  There is not one person, not one, who is not capable of being kind at any given moment of everyday, if there is a problem with kindness…. then the problem is you.  Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.   And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.  Ephesians 4:31-32

Lord, let me be honest with myself, how many opportunities do you give me everyday to be kind.  Let me not make more out of it than I need to.  Let me not judge and decide whether someone deserves my kindness or not.  Let me just be kind, no matter where I am or what I am doing, it is inexcusable for me not to be kind.

Don’t have time to rewind, c’mon!
