Word 4 Today April 10, 2011

Is my mind at rest most of the time, or is my head always racing back and forth?  Do I have a quiet calm in my soul that says, “Despite what’s going on around me, I know everything is going to be alright?”  Is my spirit at rest most of the time?  When I look in the mirror can I say “today I did the very best I could?”  If the answer is no, chances are we have been distracted and have lost our focus.  When we focus on what people think about us.  When we look at what others have and we don’t have.  When we criticize our self constantly for our shortcomings, when we focus on our problems, rather than focusing on the One who is able to deliver us from them, we will never find genuine peace.  Peace comes by developing our vertical relationship to God, and allowing Him to take care of the horizontal.  We are God’s servants, and as such we must serve Him cheerfully and readily. If we try to live today the way we believe God wants us to, His peace will be our payment.  For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Romans 8:5-6

Lord may I stop looking around me for answers and go directly to you.  The world may never offer me peace, but I know You do.  The world will never have the answers I need, but You do.  Fill me with the peace that can come only from You.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid…” John 14:27
