Word 4 Today April 9, 2011

It’s difficult to describe Joy because it is a feeling.  It’s a spirit that can only come from a sense of well-being and assurance of success because we are doing our best.  It’s an attitude of good fortune because hope is always with us.  Joy comes as the result of remembering what God has done for us in the past, and what He promises to do in the future. It comes from absolute confidence that God is who He says He is, and does what He says He will do. It’s different from happiness in that it does not change with circumstances, but comes from the innermost part of our being.  It comes from knowing that God is in control of all things.  He is always faithful and dependable and is always looking out for you.  Joy is a gift that can only come through being in unity with God.  When we are in unity with God, it is impossible not to experience His joy.  But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.  Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.  Acts 16:25-26

I pray that I may not easily be upset by what goes on around me.  I will remain joyful inside, because I have learned to count my blessings. I believe there is power in joy or the Devil would not want to steal it.  The Joy of the Lord is our strength.

No matter what goes on around me, I will keep my JOY, Paul did.
