Word 4 Today January 25, 2011

When you are overcome by temporary conditions of which you have no control, keep quiet and wait until the spirit of God flows through you.  There will be times when the world’s distractions sneak up on you in an effort to disturb your spirit.  Never yield to it, move on quietly, and soon the spirit will become strong again.  God’s spirit is always with you, to replenish and renew you.  Do not let your adornment be merely outward-arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a generous and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.  1 Peter 3:3-4

Lord, in times of unrest and upheaval let me not speak or act in a way that will offend others and disturb my peace.  May I hold on and be still until the storm has passed.  Let me rest in times of quiet communion with God and wait for His power to flow back.  May I learn that what is inside of me is far more valuable to God than what is on the outside.

Am I willing to be hard on myself to be considerate of others?
