Word 4 Today October 7, 2010

HOME SWEET HOME

I was talking to a friend the other day and we were in agreement that no matter what we were doing or our current position in life, there was always a longing in our hearts that couldn’t be filled. It reminded me of a story I heard about a blind boy flying a kite.  He couldn’t see the kite but could feel the tugging of the string.  He didn’t know where the kite was going, but he knew it was going somewhere.  I think in every believer there is a spot reserved in our hearts for eternity.  As children of God, we were created there and are anxious to return home.  Wise people: prepare properly because a day is coming when it won’t make much difference who the President is.  It won’t matter who wins the World Series or the Super Bowl.  It won’t make one bit of difference what your cars M.P.G. is, or if your hair is soft and manageable.  The only thing that will be important is that you had prepared properly for eternity.  For it is written:  “As I live, says the Lord, for every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”  So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.  Romans 14:11-12

PRAYER 4 TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for properly preparing me for my eternal home where I can finally find rest, and peace from all of the turmoil the world has to give.  Help me remember where I came from, and where I am destined to return.  In the meantime thank You for providing me with strength to get through this life and on to the next.

THOUGHT 4 TODAY

Are you properly prepared?  The day’s coming!
