Word 4 Today September 29, 2010

I learned one morning when I “humbly” came to God wanting to ask for something but, thinking I had already asked for so much.  I actually felt bad then God spoke so clearly to my heart that I’ll never forget it.  He said;  “You come to Me like a son who has a Father with a thousand cars in the driveway and you humbly and timidly walk up to me and ask for bus money to go to work.  It does not give Me pleasure not to bless you nor does it give Me glory to have you ride the bus.  You are my child, created by me with a plan and purpose, I gave you that job and it’s my intention and obligation to get you there.  So when you come to me don’t ask for bus money, ask me for the keys to the best car in the driveway.”  That morning totally changed the way I thought.  As a father of two I know that I want them to have the very best I have to offer and I’m human.  How much more does our Heavenly Father want to give His children?  “Or what man is there among you who, if a son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”  Matthew 7:10-11

Lord help me get rid of this false humility and replace it with true humility.  Humility that accepts God’s love and the gifts which He so graciously gives.  Allow me to stop my pious, religious thinking and be used as a blessing for Your glory.

Enough with false humility!
